More swastika graffiti has been spotted in Highgate and in Swiss Cottage after the symbol was first seen daubed onto a wall in the area yesterday.

Couple Michael and Clarissa Israel told the Ham&High of their shock at seeing the infamous Nazi slogan painted in black below a street sign in Jackson’s Lane, Highgate, yesterday morning.

Highgate resident Jane Owen said she saw another swastika in an alleyway at the back of Kiplings Indian Restaurant in North Hillon the same morning – only about 175 yards from the other graffiti.

And today, the Ham&High saw the offensive sign drawn onto a bus stop in Adelaide Road, Swiss Cottage.

Ms Owen, of North Hill, said: “The scattergun locations of this very offensive graffiti seems to show a more general bigotry rather than a specific group being targeted.

“It’s important that particular parts of the community are not made to feel vulnerable.”

She has reported the graffiti to Haringey Council.

She said: “I got a very speedy response from Haringey on Monday morning when I contacted them.

“I’d recommend that anyone else who sees similar graffiti gets in touch with them through the website. It’s easy to use and you can pinpoint where the graffiti is on a map.

“It is crucial that the whole community makes it clear that this sort of bigotry is not welcome or supported here.”

Between August 2014 and 2015, 33 anti-Semitic hate crimes were reported in Camden, 12 more than the previous year.
