A former chef at tapas bar Jamon Jamon has been accused of setting up a phone camera to film women relieving themselves in the restaurant's ladies' toilet.
Arulshandh Balendran, 30, is alleged to have strategically placed his mobile phone on a pipe in the toilets of the eatery in Haverstock Hill, Belsize Park.
The court heard how the phone was only spotted when a woman, who cannot legally be named, went to the toilet and looked up after a piece of toilet paper fell from the ceiling.
Appearing at Highbury Magistrates’ Court today with a Tamil interpreter, Mr Balendran pleaded not guilty to a charge of voyeurism.
The incident is alleged to have taken place on May 31.
Mr Balendran, Broadway, Ealing, was released on conditional bail, banning him from entering Jamon Jamon and contacting the complainant.
He is due to stand trial on February 16.
