PUBLISHED: 12:47 04 April 2011

THE Met Police have released CCTV footage of a violent assault on a female bus driver in Euston Road in bid to track down the attacker.

The recording shows the suspect punching the woman in the face after he was told he could not board the bus.

The attack happened on the number 59 bus as it was waiting at Euston Bus Station at the junction of Euston Road and Eversholt Street at around 7pm on January 10.

Police and the London Ambulance Service (LAS) attended the incident and found the victim with her face covered in blood

She was rushed to University College Hospital and discharged later that evening.

The suspect is described as male, with short dark hair, wearing a dark padded jacket and denim trousers.

Police say the ethnicity of the man is not known, but he may have spoken with a foreign accent.

Detective Constable Andy Barnard, investigating the assault, said: “This was a totally unprovoked attack and it is important that we hear from anyone who saw the incident take place. Euston would have been busy with commuters and the bus was full with passengers who may have seen the incident. We are appealing for anyone who recognises this man or knows of his whereabouts to contact us. We believe he may have been travelling towards Streatham.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact DC Barnard on 020 3054 5406 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
