Hampstead Road crash: Car ploughs into three pedestrians before hitting lamppost

The A400 Hampstead Road is closed both ways between Mornington Crescent and Robert Street in north London after a crash which saw four people hospitalised including a mother, a child and a teenager.

The Met said a car driven by a man in his 90s hit three victims before smashing into a lamppost.

The three pedestrians were taken by ambulance to one hospital while the driver of the car was taken to another.

Police are awaiting updates on their condition.

Motorists have been warned to avoid the area and to expect delays.

Police and ambulance were called to the area at 5.45pm.
