A distressed woman was saved from throwing herself off a bridge after the intervention of a Camden councillor.
Claire-Louise Leyland spotted the woman, in her 20s, standing on a ledge on bridge approach, Primrose Hill, as she walked home at around 8pm yesterday.
The Belsize ward councillor said: “She seemed very distressed and disorientated. There were some other students around who didn’t know what to do. I rushed home to call police and ambulance and then came back to the scene.”
She said: “Police officers arrived within 7 minutes and they were brilliant and talked the woman down. An ambulance then took her to hospital.
Ms Leyland, who is an art therapist and leader of Camden’s Conservatives, later tweeted her thanks to police and ambulance for their quick response.”
