A call has gone out for green-fingered residents to enter their gorgeous gardens, blooming balconies and fruitful food patches in this year’s Camden in Bloom competition.

The annual event, run by Camden Council, includes a new community category called Best Green Zone project, for any local group that has made their neighbourhood more environmentally friendly.

Other categories include best community project, best food growing project (including allotments), best balcony, best business entrance, and best council housing garden.

Residents and businesses have until July 31 to enter.

This year Ham&High reporter Tim Lamden will be a guest judge.

Cllr Tulip Siddiq, cabinet member for communities and culture, said: “This competition is for everyone who goes that extra mile to make our borough beautiful.

“If you’ve got a garden, food project, or balcony to be proud of, or you’re working together as a community to recycle more or save energy, we want to hear from you.”
