Council asks for views on future of Haringey’s library services
Haringey Council has launched a review of its library services and is inviting residents to give their views – though it says it remains “committed” to keeping its nine libraries open.
It says the review is being undertaken to make sure the libraries continue to provide services residents want and need.
The review will look at how libraries should operate in the future, with a view to updating facilities and services to encourage even more visitors and users.
Cllr Richard Watson, Haringey’s cabinet member for communities, said: “We know how valued our libraries are by people who use them, which is why we remain committed to keeping all of them open. They’re a much-loved and vital part of our communities.
“I’m really keen for people to tell us what they want from their library service, and to help us better understand why some people are choosing not to use our libraries as they currently stand.”

The deadline for responses to the survey, at www.haringey.gov.uk/librariesreview, is Wednesday, January 22. Hard copies are also available in local libraries.
Recommendations on the future of libraries will be presented to the council’s cabinet later in the year.
