Hundreds have cycled at a 24-hour spinathon to raise money for a charity set up in memory of a Highgate schoolgirl.
More than 300 people, including Coronation Street actress Michelle Collins, rode static bicycles at the All About You gym, in Broadbent Close, Highgate, last weekend.
Two intrepid fundraisers cycled for 12 hours through the night, but their efforts paid off as the event has so far raised more than £2,500 for the Alexandra Wylie Tower Foundation.
The charity, which helps disadvantaged children, was launched after the death of 17-year-old Channing schoolgirl Alexandra, known as Allie, from cancer in November 2010. The money raised from the spinathon will fund the foundation’s summer programme of activities, courses and day trips for children who have nothing to do during their summer holiday.
Allie’s mother Lindsey Wylie said: “It was great fun and the bikes were occupied for an awful lot of the time.”
