A controversial plan to covert a five-bedroom family house into eight flats has been approved by Camden Council, despite concerns from councillors and Residents’ Associations.
The plan to approve work on 81 Fordwych Road, NW6, was approved by the council’s planning committee last Thursday.
However Fortune Green councillor Richard Olszewski. said committee members should be concerned by the previous planning permission given retrospectively to the property.
“It strikes me that the word ‘retrospectively’ is used a lot in reference to this application.
“Most work that has been done and has been approved retrospectively. It has created great mistrust in the neighbourhood. We have got to get a grip with this.”
Committee members also said they were worried that an outbuilding, designated as a bicycle shed, could be converted into a flat at a later date.
