The Conservatives have backed Simon Marcus to win back Hampstead at the next general election.
The 40-year-old was a runaway winner at the open primary contest held on Wednesday night at the West Hampstead Synagogue in Dennington Park Road.
Elected to Camden Council last year, Cllr Marcus will now do battle with Liberal Democrat Emily Frith and a new Labour challenger to be named MP for Hampstead and Kilburn in what is expected to be one of the tightest tussles of the 2015 general election.
Speaking after his victory, Cllr Marcus said: βItβs a dream come true.β
