COOL activities and coaching sessions will be provided on board a bus at a Hornsey housing estate to keep teenagers out of trouble this summer.

Off the Streets - Less Heat is coming to the Campsbourne estate after it proved a major success in Tottenham.

The police have worked with Haringey Council to provide two youth buses which will be parked on the street three times a week in July and August.

There will be a music studio and DVD sessions and drug councillors will visit the estate to offer advice.

Hair and beauty workshops may also be offered and experts will give training on motorbike maintenance.

Crime chief Cllr Nilgun Canver said: "One of the key features has been to involve young people in the planning and organising of the programme.

"They've taken part with enthusiasm and have come up with some great ideas. We are also working with young people to set up their own group - the Campsbourne Youth Foun-dation. The aim is that the group will be predominantly run by young people and we will support them in organising events and fundraising for projects."

There have been numerous instances of anti-social behaviour on the Campsbourne estate, where 15-year-old Paul Fadipe died last year after a moped accident.

In May 73-year-old Tony Sapsford collapsed with a heart attack after confronting a gang of teenage vandals who had attempted to break into a garage to steal his moped.

Hornsey Safer Neighbour-hoods boss Sgt John Scott said: "This project is another way of trying to promote the community.

"The police are there to help people as well as give them something productive to do and it has proved very successful in other areas.
