AN upmarket store in Muswell Hill is facing an uncertain future after going into administration.

Shoe store Kate Kuba in The Broadway is continuing to trade but the closure of other branches in London has led to fears that a closure is imminent.

A source confirmed that the original three stores, including Muswell Hill, Loughton and Oakwood, will continue to trade, while stores in Brent Cross and Westfield have closed.

The news has shocked local shoppers and traders.

Sue Ettinger, who owns designer shoe shop Jen Jensen in Muswell Hill Broadway, said: "It's very sad, especially when because it started off as a small firm and they've tried to expand and can't sustain it. It's terrifying. Someone else has gone under, it's very unsettling."

Peter Kay, owner of jewellers Tom Foolery in Fortis Green Road, said: "I feel very upset that yet again a small, fairly independent store is in trouble but I'm not surprised because I think they were in the process of quite a quick expansion which, in this time, probably contributed to it.
