A clampdown on illegal ice cream vans trading outside two Camden schools has been launched.
Camden Council has recommended prohibiting ice cream trading outside independent North Bridge House Preparatory School, in Gloucester Avenue, Primrose Hill, and secondary Camden School for Girls, in Sandall Road, Camden Town, to tackle obstruction caused by vans on the roads.
Cllr Abdul Hai, cabinet member for customers, communities and culture, said: “Ice cream trading is permitted in most places as long as there is no obstruction and they only stay for 15 minutes.
“We expect vendors to behave responsibly and not have a negative impact on the area.
“To date we have received over 60 complaints for illegal ice cream trading in various hot spots across the borough. We are therefore consulting on adding five streets to the prohibited list of streets to stop illegal street trading in these specific areas.”
The council’s licensing committee will consider the proposals on October 28.
