Students at City of Westminster College showed it was possible to overcome the odds when they picked up their A-Level results this morning.

The headlines may be dominated by the number of A*s being achieved across the country but for some students meeting their own challenges was enough reward.

Alexandra Hurst was diagnosed with dyslexia not long after failing two of her A-Levels last year but it did not stop her fighting back to gain grades BCC.

And Polish born Ernest Lesniewski, 18 gained two As and B despite only being in the country for five years.

He said: "This is exactly what I needed to get into university. It took me about one year living here before I was able to really speak to people. It has been hard but I got the results I deserved.
