The author of popular children’s book series Charlie and Lola signed books and gave an assembly for young pupils.
Youngsters at Highgate Pre-Preparatory School in Bishopswood Road, Highgate, watched writer Lauren Child tell them how the popular series is illustrated, edited and designed in a special event concluding the school’s Literacy Week.
The pupils were then able to meet the author one-on-one as she signed copies of her books for them.
Julie Metcalfe, one of the deputy principles at the prep school, said: “They had been preparing all week in literacy class by studying lots of different picture books, including the Charlie and Lola ones. A lot of the children had read Lauren’s books and so were looking forward to the visit.”
Literacy Week is held every year at the school.
