HAMPSTEAD'S cutest canines will be out in force on Saturday at the annual Pup Idol competition where they will challenge each other for the title of Miss or Mr Hampstead.

They will not be expected to sing or howl but resident pooches will be judged in a range of different categories including cutest pup, best rescue dog, golden oldie and like owner, like dog.

The judging panel is rumoured to include Hampstead celebrities the Appleton sisters Natalie and Nicole, who last year entered her and Liam Gallagher's daschund Ruby.

Pup Idol will be held at the Garden Gate pub in South End Green and will be compered by local comedian Doctor Cockney.

The event is sponsored by Zasman Vets and the Garden Gate pub.

Each entry is £3 and dog owners can register by emailing pupidol2010@btinternet.com.

There will also be face painting, a raffle and the event will be fundraising for the charity All Dogs Matter.
