Campaigners staged an early-morning protest outside Camden Town Hall this week against council plans to move families hit by benefit cuts out of London.
Activists, waving mock road signs indicating the distances Camden families could be forced to move, gathered outside the Town Hall, in Judd Street, from 8.30am on Monday.
The group was led by John Reid, a Trade Union and Socialist Coalition candidate in Thursday’s Gospel Oak by-election.
He said: “This protest is to highlight that the council plans are completely unacceptable. It is particularly upsetting because of the impact this will have on children. They won’t be able to visit relatives and have all of the support an extended family provides.
“The stupid thing is it may lead to more reliance on support services and turmoil for these people costing us all more in the long run and that’s on top of the emotional damage being done.”
