She has been honoured by the Queen and was behind multiple Oscar winners Slumdog Millionaire and 12 Years a Slave.
Now Camden Town resident Tessa Ross has another award to go with the CBE and bulging collection of film accolades.
Ms Ross, who also oversaw the likes of The Last King of Scotland and This Is England as controller of film and drama at Channel 4, has been named 2014’s “woman of distinction” by the health charity Jewish Care.
Ms Ross, who recently left Channel 4 to become chief executive of the National Theatre, said: “All I have done is a job that I love.”
The event raised a record breaking £80,000 to support Jewish Care’s Sidney Corob House in West Hampstead, a registered care home for Jewish adults with moderate to severe mental health issues.
