A popular Camden Town music shop has been swept up in a whirlwind of showbiz excitement.

First Harry Styles and Co of boy band One Direction used Dots music shop in St Pancras Way as a backdrop for their latest video.

Then, the very same day, a film crew from BBC reality TV hit The Apprentice descended on the store, which has been supplying instruments, accessories and sheet music for 16 years.

Dot Fraser, who runs the shop with husband Noel, said: “We had quite a day of it. By the time The Apprentice arrived, it seemed like we were having a career change.”

It all happened in November, but The Apprentice episode has only just aired, with the latest series beginning this month.

Mrs Fraser was shown contemplating the purchase of a van-load of ukuleles.

“I took pity on them and I thought I would help them out,” she said. “I think they had about 30 to sell and I bought five. It was quite funny. ”

Heathman has often wondered what it must be like to be faced with the stars of this show – whose huge confidence is usually matched only by the scale of their ineptness – and one of their legendary sales pitches.

Asked what her impression was, Mrs Fraser added: “Put it this way – how they appear on television is how they appear in the flesh. Not always knowing what they’re doing – but doing it with great enthusiasm.”

Mrs Fraser is now selling the ukuleles for £20 and still has “three or four” in stock.

“Since it aired, lots of people have stopped us in the street and come in to say they saw it.”
