Highgate School has won an international award at a world robotics championship held in the US.

The North Road school was handed the teamwork gong at the VEX Robotics World Championship competition last week in Louisville, Kentucky.

They were joined abroad by several other local schools, including University College School (UCS) in Frognal, Hampstead, Henrietta Barnett School in Central Square, Hampstead Garden Suburb, and Greig City Academy in High Street, Crouch End.

They were among the best 850 teams out of more than 12,000 worldwide which qualified for the world championship.

All-boys UCS ranked as the second best in the UK and placed in the top 100. The team was made up of Year 8 boys.
