A community choir is celebrating after they were selected to perform in a national event honouring the work of volunteers.
The 10 singers – from Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust’s choir, including governor Prof Wendy Savage – sang a storming rendition of Ella Fitzgerald’s classic “Summertime” and other hits during their performance.
Guests of honour at the headquarters of NHS Providers – a national body representing mental health, community, ambulance and acute services – the tuneful team were taking part in a National Volunteers Week celebration.
The choir, formed last year with Key Changes, a charity promoting positive mental health through music, is open to patients, staff and carers.
NHS Providers programme manager Claire Mescia said: “Many colleagues remarked on how inspiring, uplifting and fun the singing made the afternoon. “The session was also an important reminder for everyone that patients should be at the heart of care.”
