It may not seem like most people’s ideal birthday, but one youngster had a day he will never forget when he visited a rubbish depot in Paddington.

Joseph Ostojic, from Kensal Rise, is obsessed with rubbish trucks and street cleaning vehicles and was desperate to get a piece of the action as he turned four.

The birthday boy visited Veolia’s North Wharf Road depot where he was taken for rides on the cleaning vehicles and got to use his favourite rotating brooms.

Joseph was also kitted out in a junior-sized Veolia uniform, complete with cap and hi-visibility vest, and was presented with birthday gifts including a model truck and radio-controlled street cleansing vehicle.

Joseph’s mother, Elena, said: “He now lives in his little Veolia uniform, even sleeping in the hi-vis vest.”
