Blur tribute is no longer part of Primrose Hill park life
The Britpop era on Primrose Hill has come to an end with the removal of iconic Blur lyrics by The Royal Parks.
Lyrics from the band’s 1993 song For Tomorrow were inscribed on the ground more than 10 years ago near the summit.
The words “And the view’s so nice” are dedicated to Primrose Hill and London life.
Two months ago, a “guerrilla” group repainted the lyrics. But now all trace of the words has been wiped out.
A video shot by the group of the graffiti and interviews with passers-by is featured on Blur’s official website.
Nick Biddle, Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill manager, said: “The original piece of graffiti was painted many years ago and the decision was taken to allow it to weather out naturally.
“More recently, several attempts have been made by members of the public to re-paint it. The last attempt took place in wet weather, resulting in paint running down and spoiling a popular path. It was therefore necessary for us to clean the area.”

Jeff Nottingham, 32, a screenwriter in Canfield Gardens, West Hampstead, is a member of the group who repainted the lyrics. He said: “I think it’s a shame. I can understand them wanting to make it look nice. It would have been nice had the powers that be left it until we repainted it.”
