Contestants on a BBC reality show to find the country’s best amateur artist have hosted an exhibition of their work in Highgate.
Painters put on a two-week show of art they had created on BBC1’s The Big Painting Challenge, broadcast last month, at historic Lauderdale House in Highgate Hill until Sunday.
The BBC had originally pledged to contestants that they would be given an exhibition of their work at the Tate in central London.
But when the plans fell through, the amateurs took it upon themselves to organise their own show, called The Bigger Picture exhibition. The show features both work painted on the show and art created without the pressure of being filmed.
Contestant Heather Harding, who organised the show, said: “We are all very different as a group, so it was a nice opportunity to showcase all of our work.”
