Home energy bills in London are rising faster than other regions of the country and with oil reaching $100 dollars a barrel, all the evidence is that the cost of heating and running our homes is going to rise further. Saving energy, now means saving money. Londoners can reduce their CO2 emissions and make their lives more affordable by taking advantage of the new schemes I secured funding for as part of a budget agreement with the Mayor of London. The Green Homes Advice Service has a website www.londonclimatechange.co.uk, which gives Londoners access to information and advice on how to reduce their carbon footprint. It includes interactive sections such as a carbon calculator, and advice on what grants are available to make changes. There is also a free telephone helpline - 0800 512012- to access one-to-one, personalised advice from experienced staff on how to make your home 'green'.
Finally, if you really want to make some long term changes, or are planning to update your home, then try to the Green Homes Concierge Service. This is a paid-for service - which has already been successfully piloted across London and is designed for homeowners who want to make more significant changes to their homes without the hassle. For more information call: 0800 089 0098.
