The archer statue atop East Finchley Tube station was brought to life to mark the launch of a community arts festival.

Artist Klaus Wuttke recreated the landmark by posing with his portrait of the iconic statue beside archer Nick Hare, from Aquarius Archery Club, on Sunday.

The stunt was held to promote the 18th annual East Finchley Arts Festival, raising money for two local charities and running between September 13 and 21, marking 100 years since the outbreak of the First World War.

Festival-goers will be treated to a programme of poetry and music written by some of those who fought in the First World War, as well as an exhibition of works by local and national artists.

Pauline Treen, curator, said: “I think it could be our biggest year yet, and hopefully we can reach our £6,000 target for charity.”
