Veteran right-back Lee Dixon said he would stay for another year.
The 36-year-old, who had spent 13 years at Highbury, turned down approaches from Sunderland and Watford.
He said: "Nothing is signed and sealed yet but I have spoken to the manager and he has intimated he would like me to stay for another year,.
'All things being equal that is what I will do, with the intention of retiring completely at the end of next season.
Arsene Wenger added: "Lee will be 37 next month and what he is doing is truly amazing.
