A paltry Highbury crowd of 18,352 watched Arsenal struggle to a 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest - all but ending their title challenge.
It was Arsenal's sixth game in 17 games and brought to an end a three-game losing streak.
"If you're going to be successful you have to learn to live with playing lots of important matches in a short time," said manager George Graham. "It's been a bad week but a great season.
