Blackpool boss Ian Holloway has praised Jay Emmanuel-Thomas after the Arsenal youngster's three month loan spell at Bloomfield Road came to an end on Saturday.

"I certainly know what he's good at," Holloway told BBC RADIO LANCASHIRE.

"When he realises what he has got and how best to show it off I think he'll be a terrific footballer.

"He's still learning because he's only 18 but a large amount of his game is very good.

"He's a wonderful talent to watch and I'm sure if he chooses to use it to its maximum he could have a fantastic career."

German daily BILD is fuelling speculation that Werder Bremen's supremely talented Mesut Ozil is on his way to Emirates as a long-term replacement for Cesc Fabregas. "Arsenal have made good progress in their efforts to sign Ozil," claims the paper.

But a word of caution; reports from Germany first suggested Arsenal were "on the verge" of signing him back in January 2008 when he was a Schalke 04 player.

As for Werder, their rather annoyed general manager Klaus Allofs told the paper: "We keep being relaxed, I just hope Mesut and his agent remain cool too..."

Arsenal target Arda Turan continues to generate interest around Europe, according to his agent.

Only last month the Galatasaray skipper's Mr Ten Per Cent, Ahmet Bulut, told SPORT.CO.UK "I think he will be sold next July. Arsenal are interested and if they want him, Arsenal is Arda's No1 choice."

But, possibly with euros rather than pound signs in his eyes, this week there was no mention of Arsenal when he told RADYOSPOR: "Many clubs are watching Arda: Barcelona and Bayern Munich are awaiting developments."

KICKETTE.COM carries the most bizarre Arsenal picture of the year: Cesc Fabregas dressed as a giant bunny rabbit along with suitably attired teammates Theo Walcott (lion), Andrey Arshavin (shark) and Bacary Sagna (owl).

The quintet of cuddly Gooners were filming a video at the Arsenal training ground for Great Ormond Street Hospital. It will reportedly be shown at the Arsenal v Chelsea game on November 29.

And Arsene Wenger may be frustrated at this weekend's international break, but he's still chomping at the bit for France's double-header with Ireland.

He told FRANCE FOOTBALL: "I am impatient to see the mix of passion and desire to progress - and the Irish temperament and the calculator Giovanni Trapattoni.

"The question is whether the collective desire of the Irish can surpass the technical superiority of the French..."

Bet Mrs Wenger - expecting a rare free weekend with her man - can't wait too ...
