A despondent Andrey Arshavin used his own website - arshavin.eu - to record his disappointment after Sunday's loss.

"It's getting even harder to believe that we can win first place after such defeats," he moaned.

"They (United) outplayed us. Maybe another day, another match something would have flown into the rival's gate," he strangely added. "Today, this has not happened - our competitor was stronger than us."

El Mundo Deportivo claimed on Tuesday the defeat to United was the final straw for Cesc Fabregas. "Bye Bye Arsenal" was it's headline as it claimed the Catalan will get agent Darren Dein to push through a summer move to Barca.

And he's not the only Gunner rumoured to be leaving these shores. Bacary Sagna's agent Christophe Mongai confirmed Jose Mourinho likes his player.

"Sagna has attracted big interest from Inter Milan," he confirmed to French publication Le Quotidien du Foot.

Angus Kinnear, Arsenal's director of marketing, says he would consider backing a 39th Premier League game played abroad.

"If it was suitable and worked for the club, I would be supportive of it," he told Brand Republic. "It would help our global fans engage further with us."

Meanwhile, Sunday's goalscorer Thomas Vermaelen has been defending Belgium coach Dick Advocaat, who is also manager of Zenit St Petersburg.

The Gunners defender told Sportweekend: "Advocaat is not the only coach with two jobs at the same time. He's one of the best coaches around and we should be glad to have him on board instead of criticising him.

"He's the right man for Belgium at the moment - I'm full of confidence that Advocaat will do his utmost for the team.

And Sky's 3D experiment for Sunday's match clearly did not impress Perry Groves. The Ginger legend told Talksport: "After that result I wouldn't mind a pair of rose-tinted 3D glasses!
