The Ham&High has teamed up with The Bureau of Investigative Journalism (TBIJ) to find out which political parties are targeting Facebook users with political adverts, known as “dark ads”.
In the 2015 General Election and last year’s EU referendum, millions of pounds were spent buying political adverts on Facebook and targeting them at specific groups.
But we know little about who was behind these “dark ads” – and unlike advertising in newspapers or on TV they are unregulated.
We hope to help throw some light on this – but we need your help. A project called Who Targets Me? tracks the political advertising in your Facebook newsfeed. Who Targets Me? will share that information with TBIJ. From that data we can find out which political groups are using adverts and for what.
