Christmas will get underway for some in Hampstead this weekend, as actor and local Greg Wise will open the Marie Curie Hospice Hampstead’s Winter Fair.

He will cut the ribbon at 11am on Sunday. There will be stalls selling books, Christmas decorations, gifts and cakes. There will also be games with some prizes available, including tickets for the Everyman Cinema in Belsize Park.

Entry to the fair at the hospice in Lyndhurst Gardens is £2 per person, with under 5s going free.

Mr Wise is best known for starring in 1995 film Sense and Sensibility.

Luisa Stravino, Marie Curie’s fundraising manager, said: “Our annual Winter Fair is always a fun and exciting day in the calendar and it is great to see people in the community coming along to support the Marie Curie Hospice. Without this support the hospice wouldn’t be able to continue its vital work providing care and support to people living with terminal illness and their families.”
