SPURS FANS must be licking their lips in anticipation of the big kick off after seeing their team complete their impressive pre-season preparations with a five-star performance to thrash Roma 5-0 at the Lane on Sunday, writes Patrick Mooney.
David Bentley scored twice on his home debut - as did the in-form Darren Bent - as the Seria A side were totally outplayed.
Aaron Lennon was Tottenham's other scorer in front of a near capacity crowd of 35,841.
Meanwhile, Tottenham defender Younes Kaboul is set to sign for Portsmouth today (Monday) after agreeing personal terms.
The 22-year-old, who has been told he is surplus to requirements at the Lane, will sign a four-year deal subject to passing a medical.
Kaboul joined Spurs for around £8m from Auxerre last July, but only made 19 Premier League starts.
