Excitement filled St Anthony’s as the school community came together to elect its new Head Boy and House Captains, marking a milestone in the launch of our new house system this September.

Named after four inspirational saints, Thomas More, John Fisher, John Newman and Thomas Becket, the houses have brought a fresh sense of identity to school life. It was time to decide who would represent them.

A group of ambitious Year 8 boys put themselves forward for Head Boy, preparing speeches to share their ideas and explain what they could bring to the role.

At the weekly Friday assembly, each candidate addressed the Senior House, speaking about leadership, listening to their peers and ensuring pupils’ voices were heard through School Council meetings. It was an opportunity for the boys to step into the spotlight and make their case.

In a true celebration of democracy, both pupils and staff cast their votes, giving everyone a say in choosing their new Head Boy. Anticipation built as the school awaited the result, finally announced over the tannoy for all to hear!

The four House Captains were subsequently revealed in assembly, completing the new team of pupil representatives.

Standing for election was an achievement in itself. Boys who were not elected Head Boy were given the opportunity to become House Captains, ensuring their enthusiasm and commitment could still make a difference.

With our new pupil leaders in place, we look forward to seeing their ideas take shape and our four houses flourish.
