Could you spare four hours a week to make a real difference to local pets and their owners?

Behind every animal that walks through Mayhew's veterinary clinic doors, there's a team working behind the scenes to make sure they get the care they need. We're looking for a clinic reception volunteer to join our team at Trenmar Gardens in Kensal Green – and you'll play an important part in keeping the clinic running smoothly.

You won't be treating or handling animals directly. Instead, you'll be the calm, friendly presence at the heart of the reception team – booking appointments, updating client records, answering calls, taking payments and helping pet owners feel supported from the moment they get in touch.

It's a role for someone who enjoys multitasking and stays calm under pressure. One minute you might be helping a worried owner with an appointment, the next checking a vaccination record or taking a payment. If you're organised, approachable and like being the person who keeps things ticking along, you'll fit right in.

You don't need veterinary experience to apply. We're looking for someone confident using computers, willing to learn new systems and who genuinely cares about animal welfare.

In return, you'll gain valuable experience working in a busy veterinary charity clinic, develop your administration and customer service skills, and know that the time you give is helping local pets and their owners get the support they need.

The commitment is one four-hour shift each week, from 9 am to 1 pm, on the same day each week. It's a regular but manageable commitment that can fit around work, family or other responsibilities. There's no minimum length of commitment, although the longer you stay, the more you'll get to know the team and the role.

If you'd like to be part of the team behind the scenes at Mayhew, we'd love to hear from you. You're not just answering phones – you're helping make sure vulnerable animals get the care they need. Fancy it? Get in touch at volunteer@mayhewanimalhome.org or apply online today.
