Visitors to Highgate will come across its village atmosphere and old world charm - including the Victorian-style street lamps and iconic red telephone boxes.
The hilltop neighbourhood boasts eight of the famous phone kiosks including five original K2 boxes which were introduced in 1926 and designed by Giles Gilbert Scott.
Modelled on Sir John Soane's Mausoleum in St Pancras Old Church they were mainly installed in London - while the more modern K6 boxes which date from 1935 and King George's Silver Jubilee went on to become the classic red telephone box seen across the country.
Highgate also has three K6 boxes in North Hill, Hampstead Lane, and Hornsey Lane.
But all eight boxes were in need of a touch-up - according to local amenity group The Highgate Society.
Its community projects group wrote to BT to ask for Highgate's boxes to be repainted in the classic shade of currant red.
It wrote in the latest society newsletter: "The group is delighted to report that British Telecom has responded positively to a request the group made and has repainted all eight of the historic red telephone boxes in the immediate area."
The group listed the K2 boxes in Highgate Road, Laurier Road, the north and south side of Pond Square, and Highgate Hill.
It added: "Our community projects volunteers keep a regular watch on all eight for any signs of damage and liaise with BT whenever any repairs are needed that we cannot manage ourselves."
The group urged members to get in touch if they notice any concerns with one of the red phone boxes.
The Highgate Society is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year with events, talks and a party later this month at Channing School.
With 1,400 paid up members and around 170 volunteers, it supports positive change in the neighbourhood by encouraging sound planning, good transport and thriving local amenities.
