GCSE results - Hampstead School students celebrate success

Pupils in Camden are celebrating after receiving their GCSE and BTEC results, overcoming disruptions from the pandemic during their crucial years of education.

More than a quarter of students earned a strong pass in English and maths, while around half secured at least a standard pass in both subjects.

Matthew Sadler, headteacher at Hampstead School, said: "I am so impressed by all of our Year 11 students, and it is lovely to see them celebrating individual achievements and exceptional progress, as well as taking their next steps into Sixth Forms, colleges and other destinations.

"Their achievements are even more impressive as COVID caused particular complexities for this cohort in their key developmental years, particularly the primary-to-secondary transition period, but they worked hard to surmount those challenges."

Among the top performers was Tianna Chauhan, who achieved 10 GCSEs, including eight at grade 7 or above.

Dania Mohamed earned 11 GCSEs, with seven at grade 7 or higher, while Jaffar Mohammed secured 11 GCSEs and six at grade 7 or above.

Aafreen Piprawala achieved 10 GCSEs, including seven at grade 7 or higher.

Other students overcame significant obstacles to succeed. Moataz Ahmed Abd Elkadr Mahmoud Ismail achieved 10 GCSEs, with five at grade 5 or above, including a grade 9 in Italian, despite facing personal challenges before the exams.

Amal Mohamed earned nine GCSEs, with seven at grade 5 or above, exceeding expectations through hard work and determination.
