Everyone remembers their best (or worst) Sports Day.

The one where they came first in the egg and spoon, or where they ended tangled up in the three-legged race.

In the middle of the longest, hottest summer term in recent memory, we had our Olympics Sports Day.

Fortunately, the temperature was in the high 20s rather than the mid-30s so we could go ahead, as planned.

For a few years, we have held an Olympic-style Sports Day with a carousel of activities for the children to take part in, competing for their houses - Eagle, Grove, Priory and Rectory.

The children from Year 3 to Year 6 competed in archery, a basketball shoot-out, the long jump, and the ever-popular high jump event!

The younger children competed with running, throwing, and jumping, including the sack race.

As well as the field events, there were also the usual fun races plus the more competitive ones - none more so than the parents' race at the end!

Children, parents, and staff came together to enjoy this fun day and cheer on their houses and teammates!

After hours of competition, the results were in; a huge well done to Eagle for winning the Church Lane Sports Day Cup and to Grove for winning the Rectory Gardens Cup!

And massive thanks to our specialist PE teacher, Jack Oakley.

A sports day is such a staple of the British education system, and it’s always a highly anticipated day.

We try to offer a range of activities to make it as inclusive as possible, and the children look forward to it every year.
