All Dogs Matter looking to find forever homes for pups

East Finchley-based All Dogs Matter is caring for a number of puppies and young dogs less than one-year-old that have been abandoned or given up by their owners.

Charity workers say dachshunds and French Bulldogs are among the most common breeds they have seen this year - with three dachshunds arriving this week on a single day.

Ira Moss, founder of All Dogs Matter said: "We've seen an influx of dogs under a year coming through our doors.

"Sometimes this is due to the dog having medical issues that have become apparent after having the dog for a while, or, most commonly, underestimating the time, finances, and work involved in dog ownership."

French Bulldogs and dachshunds are prone to medical issues, according to experts.

Among the younger dogs now looking for a second chance is Daisy, a puppy who was abandoned and taken in by the charity.

She is in foster care with another dog and could potentially be rehomed with a calm male dog, subject to introductions.

On her page the charity describes Daisy a "typical little pup, full of curiosity and energy".

"She is looking for new owners who have the time and patience to continue her training and attend puppy classes with her.

"Daisy struggles being left alone, so is looking for a house, no flats please, with direct access to a garden, with an owner who is around most of the day."

Another dog in need of a forever home is Hunter, a one to two-year-old husky cross who was found tied to a tree.

Despite his ordeal, Hunter has remained friendly and sweet-natured, and the charity believes he will make a great companion in the right home.

Casper, an eight-year-old Pomeranian, was given up by his long term owner due to circumstances beyond her control.

He was a very loved little dog, who had lived with the same owner since he was a puppy, but suffered a mouth infection and ended up having 17 teeth removed.

After surgery and time in foster care Casper has recovered and is now enjoying his food again.

Though she has already found a foster placement, many other dogs, young and old, are still waiting for their forever homes.
