A long-running community group has marked 40 years of friendship and support for older people.
Tea Time, based at St James Church in Muswell Hill, celebrated the milestone at a special gathering this week, recognising four decades of bringing people together through conversation, activities, and connection.
Founded in 1986, Tea Time welcomes seniors from across Muswell Hill and neighbouring areas for weekly gatherings that include keep-fit classes, classical music performances, games, and guest talks.

Ellie Lyon, who leads St James’ Community Ministries, said: "Tea Time has been at the heart of our community for 40 years, creating a place where people feel welcomed, valued, and connected.
"We are so grateful to our incredible volunteers, whose dedication and care make this group what it is. It was a joy to celebrate together and see just how much it means to so many people."
Each afternoon concludes with homemade sandwiches and cakes. The programme is supported by a team of volunteers: Gill Brazier, Robin Chapman, Helen Notter, Elaine Levine, Martin Rich, and Rod Grey.
Haringey’s deputy mayor, Councillor Makbule Gunes, attended the celebration with her consort, Cathy Brennan, and presented bouquets to volunteers in recognition of their service.
