More people made personal injury claims for incidents that took place at King’s Cross than at any other Tube station over the past five years.
Almost 14,000 non-fatal injuries were recorded on the Underground, DLR and Elizabeth line by Transport for London (TfL) since 2020, Freedom of Information (FoI) data shows.
It also reveals that while Waterloo station had the most reported injuries, King’s Cross came out on top as the location where people who tried to win compensation were injured.
Slips, trips and falls were responsible for the majority of injuries at London’s stations, with escalators and stairs also causing thousands of injuries.
Between 2020 and 2024, 46 people made a personal injury claim against TfL after an incident at King’s Cross station.
Stratford station also saw high levels of compensation claims, with 40 reported over the last five years.
Almost 1,000 claims were brought over this period across TfL’s network, but only 40 were successful.
In total, TfL forked out almost £2.6 million to these claimants, with the largest payout totalling more than £2.3 million.
Slips, trips or falls on the platform accounted for the most claims brought against TfL, but there were also 12 claims as a result of falling objects and two for reported “exposure to noxious substance”.
As well as releasing the FoI data, TfL said in its response: “We have done a lot to understand the key locations, issues and contributory factors which lead to customer accidents, particularly as customers board and alight our trains.
“To reduce numbers of safety incidents, we focus on both influencing customer behaviour and changing our infrastructure where possible to reduce the risk.
“The data should be viewed in the wider context of the millions of passenger journeys that are made on the TfL network each day.
“For example, the London Underground can see around 4 million individual passenger journeys a day.”
