The old Highgate Newtown Community Centre building in Bertram Street in Highgate may be gone, but its proud legacy is far from over with the new building opening in May.

Throughout the history of the Highgate Newtown Community Partners (HNCP), the community has come together to tackle local problems and bring about positive social change and our beautiful new building will be opening in May.

At HNCP, we support people facing challenges, including older people, low-income families, those experiencing discrimination, and individuals facing loneliness.

We offer services such as affordable lunch clubs for older adults and isolated individuals, daily play activities for under-5s to aid development and parental support, and free education for struggling students.

We also assist with housing and benefits support, including form-filling and access to food and clothing. Our services connect people to essential resources, fostering community engagement and well-being.

A range of fitness activities will be available from capoeira to Mum & Children dance.

HNCP are aware that looking good can have a positive mental health impact, so a hair and beauty salon will be available.

Join some fun, stress-free cookery classes for friends or family groups, birthday events or team-building outings and schools.

There will be a laundry for people on low income with a wash costing £2 and a 15-minute dry £2 – locally, laundrettes now cost £10 a wash.

“Their belief in a society where everyone can participate and thrive through kindness and fairness has never been more important. I know many of us share that belief and it is heartening to see the success that HNCP have had in securing funding to deliver their vision, from charitable trusts, public sector grants, and private donations.

“I am so pleased that the team will be re-opening their community centre in May. It is a testament to the hard work that Andrew Sanalitro and his team at HNCP team have put in to provide a vibrant community space for local residents.

“I know how much Cllr Anna Wright and other local councillors have done to support their work, and I am grateful for Camden Council’s ongoing generosity. HNCP’s partnership with the council is central to their vision of a borough that is safe, strong, and open.”

A large tree with white flowers stands at the heart of the community centre, creating a calm and welcoming atmosphere for visitors. The tree reflects the centre's focus on renewal and connection.
