A pub that shut down near the beginning of the year is looking for a new owner.

The Princess Alexandra in Park Road, Crouch End, reportedly closed its doors this year due to the former owners being “fed up working 80 hours a week for not much money”, the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) said.

It received an “extensive refurbishment” in 2018 from its former owners and further improvements to decking behind the venue last year.

Operator Stonegate said that the 120-year-old watering hole has the potential to build a great reputation for quality drinks.

A description reads: “The Princess Alexandra is a lovely suburban pub nestled between the affluent areas of Muswell Hill and Crouch End. This is a great pub which has everything to allow it to become the heart of the local community, as well as the place to be!”

It is estimated that the forecast turnover per year would be £645,647 and the guide rent is £1,000 per week.

This listing comes as the GMB Union has warned that that venues owned by pub chain Stonegate could face an uncertain future as owner TDR Capital seeks to refinance £2.6 billion in debt.

A spokesman for Stonegate Pub Company said: “We continue to invest in our pubs and our people, in particular supporting local pubs which play such a key role in their communities.

“Our pub business remains very resilient despite the challenges our industry faces, with good like-for-like sales growth across the group.

“Following our recent successful financing announced in December as well as strong recent trading, we are well placed to deliver on our longer-term objectives and we are very confident in our ability to refinance at the appropriate time.”
