A canalside pub is finally set to reopen following a head to toe makeover.
The Constitution in St Pancras Way, Camden, will start serving pints again next month after being closed since February 2020.
Set over three floors, the Victorian watering hall has been restored to its former glory, with new features including a rooftop terrace, seasonal menus of sharing plates, and events from live music to comedy and quiz nights.
Pub chain Young's says the local will stay true to its traditional roots as "a celebration of all that's great about the British pub", with interiors blending original features with pops of colourful artwork, exposed brickwork, tiled feature walls, vintage-style mirrors and cosy leather seating.
The pub originally opened in 1858, and according to the Campaign for Real Ale, is the last remaining building from the old Agar Town, a short-lived working-class community swept aside by the development of St Pancras station.
The refurbed boozer has a main bar area, and stunning first floor 33-cover terrace overlooking the Regent's Canal with retractable roof. The enclosed beer garden will also be back for outdoor pints in the sun, climbing plants over the arched walls, and lantern-style lighting for alfresco evenings.
The menu of seasonal sharing dishes, created by Head Chef Jay Bond to showcase the best of British ingredients from local suppliers, ranging from bar nibbles and small plates to pies and sharing seafood stews.
A good selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes include the likes of brown butter gnocchi with heritage beetroot and kale, and whipped vegan feta with fregola, pomegranate and pistachio.
Behind the bar, an extensive drinks list includes a selection of local craft beers and ales from Camden Hells, Two Tribes and Deya, as well as wines and bubbles. There will also be a curated list of signature cocktails, infused with homegrown herbs and syrups, while the summer will introduce takeaway serves and frozen tipples.
Locals can look forward to a roster of entertainment with regular quiz and live music nights comedy evenings, spoken word readings and craft workshops.
The Constitution will relaunch in February and open seven days a week for bookings and walk-ins.
