It will be no surprise to North Londoners that Alexandra Palace's much-loved ice rink has been ranked the best in the UK.

Boasting an atmospheric setting in the cavernous Grade II listed Victorian 'people's palace,' the Muswell Hill rink came out top in a survey of Google reviews with a total of 19,703 posts averaging 4.6 out of 5.

While the Haringey rink earned an index score of 77.69 out of 100, Billingham Forum Ice Arena in County Durham came out second best with 75.97, and Planet Ice in Bristol was ranked the worst - scoring 32.03 out 100.

The study conducted by gaming site Amazonslots.com looked at all of the UK's 57 rinks, taking into account 10 different factors including total number of TripAdvisor reviews, TripAdvisor rating score, number of Google reviews, Google rating score, price per person, and whether there is a train station nearby.

A spokesperson for Amazonslots said: “For its great reviews and reasonable price, Alexandra Palace is ranked as the best ice rink across the UK. Our research reveals each rink’s overall review score, the cost and whether public transport is available nearby."

Hundreds of thousands of people enjoy Ally Pally's rink year round with regular skaters aged from 3 to 90. The venue hosts regular public sessions with prices ranging from £6.50 to £11, as well as skating lessons, parties, discos, an ice hockey club and league matches featuring local team the Clockwise Haringey Huskies.
