Police and fire services have launched an investigation after a blaze in a youth hostel.

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to the hostel in Tottenham Lane, Hornsey, at 7.35pm on December 15. 

Part of a room under a mansard roof was damaged by fire, London Fire Brigade said.

Around 50 people left the building before the brigade arrived and there were no reports of any injuries.  

The fire was under control by by 8.23pm.

Fire crews from Hornsey and Tottenham fire stations attended the scene.  

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the brigade and the Metropolitan Police.
