A train company has given more details of rail services London's newest station.

Brent Cross West, located between Cricklewood and Hendon stations on the Midland Mainline, will be operational from December 10.

Thameslink services will connect the new station to central London, with journey times to St Pancras taking as little as 12 minutes.

At peak times, up to eight trains an hour will pass through the station, providing links to Luton Airport and the Elizabeth line via Farringdon.

Announcing a new timetable for December incorporating Brent Cross West, operator Thameslink said passengers will be served by six trains each way per hour during off-peak hours and weekends.

There will be four trains per hour between St Albans and Sutton, and two per hour between Luton and Rainham (Kent), with a further two trains per hour at peak times provided by the Luton-Orpington services.

Jenny Saunders, Govia Thameslink Railway’s customer services director, said: “We’re constantly listening to our passengers and local communities, and these improvements are designed to meet demand where they tell us it’s needed most, help communities grow, and attract new customers to rail."

A new overbridge at Brent Cross West will connect parts of Barnet and Brent, providing the first pedestrian access across this stretch of the Midland Mainline.

A new neighbourhood called Brent Cross Town is planned as part of a wider 180-acre development around the station, with 6,700 new homes and office space for 25,000 workers, alongside a new high street.
