Police are hunting for three men after armed robbers threatened staff at two supermarkets with a gun.

Two armed suspects pointed a handgun at staff at Tesco in Camden Road and Nisa Local in York Way on October 1.

Police were called to Tesco just before 5.45am, after one suspect held staff at gunpoint while the other stole items.

Around 40 minutes later, the same suspects went into the Nisa Local and carried out an identical raid.

Three days later – just after 3.15am on October 4 – the two suspects returned to the same Nisa store, this time accompanied by a third man.

The trio waved a handgun, knife and hammer at members of the public inside the store before making off with stolen goods.

Police have described one of the suspects as Asian, 6ft tall and aged in his 20s. He was dressed all in black, wearing tracksuit bottoms with grey pockets.

The second is described as Asian, 5ft 7ins tall, and around 20 to 30 years old. He was also wearing all black, including a hoodie with a ‘MYPROTEIN’ logo.

Police did not release a description of the third suspect. Officers have now released CCTV images and footage in an attempt to identify three men in connection with the investigation.

Detective Constable Will Wigzell, who is leading the investigation, said: “This was a very frightening experience for the victims involved, thankfully none of whom were injured.

"These are very serious offences and we are keen to identify those responsible as soon as possible.

"Officers have carried out a number of inquiries and are now appealing to the public for assistance. Do you have any information that could help us? Do you recognise the males in the images?”
