Two north London restaurants have been named in Tripadvisor's 2023 Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best.
The accolade goes out to venues with a "high volume of above-and-beyond reviews" over a 12-month period, and is awarded to fewer than 1 percent of the site's eight million listings.
Meeting "the highest level of excellence" for Everyday Eats was Bonoo Indian Tapas in Finchley Road, Golders Green, which has clocked up 2,566 reviews - 2328 of them rating it excellent.
Tripadvisor describes the category as "laid-back fare that goes above and beyond, without breaking the bank," and the eatery serves upmarket Indian street food from across India combining seasonal British ingredients with authentic bold flavours including chaats, biryanis, classic curries, kathi rolls, and grills from the tandoor.
One happy customer raved about the 'best set of currys I've ever had,' while another wrote: 'Lovely interior decor and unparalleled food with tapas style menu; the best Indian my partner and I have had together. Top class service.'
Meanwhile Andy's Greek Taverna which opened in Pratt Street, Camden Town in 1967, was named in the hidden gem category of "restaurants that earn their under-the-radar status. (If you know, you know - and now you do)"
Listed as "a charming, casual dining spot with all the cheer of the Greek islands" 1,913 out of 2,379 reviews rated it excellent, with comments like 'the food was delicious,' 'excellent service,' and 'one of the best restaurants in London'.
White-fronted, with classic blue awnings and a blue and white interior, the long established restaurant recalls the whitewashed houses of the Aegean and is famous for its warm staff, pocket-friendly prices, and generous portions.
Dishes include grilled sea bass and sea bream flown in daily from Greece, breads and dips, the famous kleftiko slow roasted lamb and Greek pastries for dessert.
