A man has been charged with murder after a 53-year-old victim was fatally stabbed in North London.

Metropolitan Police were called by London Ambulance Service at 4.00am on Tuesday (September 19) to reports of the incident in Upper Tollington Park in Haringey.

Officers found 53-year-old Brian Edwards, of Haringey, with stab injuries at the scene. Despite the best efforts of police and paramedics, he was pronounced dead. His family is said to have been informed of his demise.

A postmortem examination, that took place on Wednesday (September 20), gave the cause of death as stab injuries.

An investigation into the murder was launched by the police. David Odunuga, 32, of Rollason Way in Brentwood, was arrested and has been charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

He is due to appear at Highbury Magistrates’ Court on Monday (September 25).
